Windows 10 sends kids surfing info to parents.

Windows 10 sends a weekly “activity update” on children's internet browsing and computer history to parents by default. This feature is embarrassing and dangerous as users have pointed out, allowing parents to know everything about their children surfing habits.

The operating system sends a weekly report of all the websites children have visited, number of how many hours they have spent on the computer and also how long they used their favourite apps according to the reports. This feature appears to be turned on by default for family accounts, without notifying either the children or parents.

Some are frightened that this feature might by chance out younger LGBT individuals, by sending their net searching information to their parents, that would in turn put them at risk of abuse by their parents, or danger, Twitter users have warned. Others are worried that this feature would teach their children from their youngest age that their every motion is being digital watched and they should self censor as appropriate. Parents that warned about this feature have told young people to be cautious, aware that their parents may be spying on their web browsing.

A Boing Boing reader wrote an email to the site stating that “This weekend we upgraded my 14 year old son’s laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10. Today I got a creepy ass email from Microsoft titled ‘Weekly activity report for (my kid)’, including which websites he visited, how many hours per day he used it, and how many minutes he used each of his favourite apps.”

The reader known as Kirk, said that he couldn’t be sure that the reports were directly related to the upgrade. But they soon began very soon  after the upgrade"Ok I admit that the timing might be coincidental but that would be one hell of coincidence. I’ve never seen anything like this until we upgraded to Windows 10, and then I got the spy report the following business day.

A message to our young readers if you have Windows 10 now, your parents would be getting the same type of report I did. Don’t assume your computer has your back.”

The dossiers are just the latest example of worries about invasive spying on Windows 10, which has settings that allows Microsoft to look in on the user’s computers, and which also continues to send the data to Microsoft even when they are turned off.

Why Maggi is Dangerous To Your Kids.

Maggi is a favourite snack of Indians. It is a quick meal for all ages. The noodles takes only 2 minutes to make and are available in many flavours. Parents always resorted to Maggi as it is a comfort food, a go to meal. Some Indians still have Maggi, in spite of the recent health issues.

The Maggi Noodles Controversy :
Many states in India have banned Maggi due to its negative health effects specially on children. According to tests and studies, Maggi noodles contain dangerously high level of lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG). A recent press report stated that the test performed by the food safety authorities in Uttar Pradesh have revealed that the permissible limit of lead ranges between 0.01 and 2.5 ppm, but Maggi samples contained 17.2 parts per million(ppm) of lead which is many times above the permitted limit. These two ingredients are extremely harmful, especially for children, which the brand’s (Nestle) target market.

Lead:
Lead is a heavy metal, which the body cannot excrete, instead it keeps accumulating. According to the food safety experts, multiple body systems, especially liver and kidney functions are effected by heavy metals.

Lead Effects:
Children are the most vulnerable to even mild levels of lead especially the age group six years and younger. Lead can harm even the central nervous system of the child a pregnant women is carrying.

Lead poisoning can lead to many growth defects, disorders, and disabilities, like:
  1. Learning Disabilities.
  2. Kidney damage
  3. Defected brain growth.
  4. Defected muscle growth.
  5.  Defected bone growth.
  6. Kidney damage.
  7. Impairment of speech and language.
World Health Organisation states that lead is harmful for children. They also state that no level of lead exposure is considered safe.

MSG:
MSG is known as monosodium glutamate. It is a food additive and a flavouring substance. It is used in Chinese food and even Maggi noodles. It does have negative impacts.
Msg can affect the quality of food, as instead of using real ingredients manufactures are using Msg to enhance flavours.

Effects of MSG:
Short term usage of Msg can cause hypertension, palpitations and headaches.
If our body contains a high level of MSG, it gives way to free glutamates. This also affects babies while in their mothers womb, as their placental barrier breaks down blocking the food supply to the baby. This placental barrier allows only good substances to enter. If there is no barrier, babies are exposed to good and bad, even allergens and germs.

Maggi lovers, we are sorry to tell u that it’s not at all a wise choice. No matter what level of Msg and lead it contains. It is extremely harmful to all ages, especially to children.

Smart phones a blessing or curse for our teenagers.

The smart phone industry is flourishing but it has simultaneously created a major concern for the parents of teenagers. The parents concerns have magnified due to their teenagers addiction to smartphones.
Kids are almost always glued to the smart phone, so their exposure to the outside world has lessened. This also has raised a major concern in the society about the future generations and their lack of abilities to interact with effective individuals.
Parents stated that kids are always on their phones and are interacting with each other when together, but not interacting. This further proves the point about the future of these teens once they enter adolescence.
On the brighter side, parents know the information of their children's lives through the social media. Parents can stay updated with their children’s lives without interfering and outwardly asking them questions. Many teenagers don’t like to be questioned ; thus, the social media gives the parents an idea of their social lives.
This offers an insight to the parents, something that they may have not previously known without  the smart phones.
There are many parents who have not provided their kids with the smart phones. Flip phones are given to these teenagers to fulfil the basic requirement of staying in touch.
Parents who want to inculcate the value of responsibility to their children have made it clear that their children will have to prove first that they deserve a fancy gadget. They want their kids to earn it.
We all should be ready to face the consequences of having a world with minimal human interaction, if we give in to the demands of teenage for a smart phone.
